Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to shoot me a question and I’ll add my answer to this list.

What writing services do you provide?

Basically I can write, or help you write anything non-fiction. I don’t write fiction – except for my own pleasure!

Check out my portfolio, or go to my contently.com page and you can read dozens of my articles and blogs.

What do you charge?

That is a little like asking, “How long is a piece of string?” So much depends on the type of book and the number of pages/words. Obviously I charge more for a book containing 75,000 words than I do for a 40,000 word book for instance. Another factor is the stage the book is at. For instance, is it at concept stage or do you already have a draft manuscript? Okay, I can almost hear you crying out in frustration that no writer’s site will give you a clear answer, so let me try to give you a better idea. I am at the height of my profession as a Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly best-selling ghost-writer and I have also been published in my own right by a top-tier publisher, so expect to pay more for my services than you would for a less experienced writer. Having said that, I am still moderately priced for someone with my level of experience. Given that somewhat lengthy preamble, my starting rate is approximately $35,000 USD, but for a standard length business book I charge between $50,000 – $75,000.

Why hire a ghostwriter?

Providing you retain a professional ghostwriter they will make sure your book, or other document, readable, accessible and a page-turner. Also, experienced ghostwriters know a lot about how a book should be constructed and what makes it readable.

Why are ghostwriters special?

It’s not their first rodeo, they know how to pull a book together. Also, they have an uncanny knack for capturing your story in your voice as they slip into the literary shadows.

Can’t I just write it myself?

Unless you can devote several hundred hours to your project and you are an accomplished writer, it’s simply not a cost-effective use of your time. If you are not an electrician, would you attempt to re-wire your house yourself? If you did, would you be confident it was done correctly?

How can you help me?

Call me and we discuss your specific needs, but basically I can do anything from help you conceptualize your book and write it based on your notes, or interviews, right through to getting it designed and printed.
