The book begins in 2020 and allows readers to be a fly on the wall while Stacey opens her brother’s trunk, which has been sealed since his death 23 years earlier from a tragic and high-profile car accident. Only now has she summoned the strength to face the memories it holds and the emotions she has locked away for more than two decades. As Stacey holds each item, readers learn Clinton’s story and the depth of Stacey’s grief. Finally empty, she sits by the trunk and reflects on the horrific accident that took her brother from her, reliving each detail.
