Michael Wicks is a freelance writer and author. His regular sales and marketing column appears in Douglas business magazine for which he also contributes feature articles. He founded the popular WestShore magazine and continues to contribute articles for each issue.
 
Mike WicksWicks has written three books, one of which ‘Fire From The Sky - A Diary Over Japan’ won a silver medal for best military memoir of 2005, awarded by the Military Writers Society of America. He has also written several training manuals and workbooks, economic development publications, business white papers and copy for websites, brochures and tourism lure pieces.
 
Wicks spent his early career in the book publishing industry, working as a sales representative for several paperback publishers before joining Michael Joseph as an area manager. He later became a sales manager at Century Hutchinson. When Random House U.K. took over Century he set up one of the industry’s first special sales divisions, specializing in corporate sponsored books and specialist publications. He subsequently became managing director of the Rowan Publishing Company Ltd.
 
In 1992 he moved to Canada with his family and became a management consultant. In 1995 he set up Your Corporate Writer, which specialized in handling the writing needs of a diverse client list of businesses, organizations and cities.
 

Wicks is currently working on his new book, The Über Boomer: How to Beat the Crap Out of Aging. He continues to write freelance articles on a wide range of topics including sales and marketing, small business, business and lifestyle trends and the boomer generation.
